Viva Las Vegas

We spent the week of Spring Break in sunny Las Vegas. Our first few days were great; we stayed at the Mandalay Bay hotel because they had the best pools. I got to go swimming for the first time. I didn't really like it at first but once I understood it was like my bathtub I enjoyed myself. We toured the city a bit and rode the monorail to the other casinos.

It was a good thing that our hotel was nice because I got a stomach virus and then Daddy caught it the next day, so we spent the last 2 days of our 4 day trip mostly in our hotel room. Mommy was a bit disappointed because she had to take care of everyone and didn't get to spend time in the sun or see a show like she wanted. Fortunately Mommy didn't catch the virus until we got home.

Everyone is mostly feeling better now; I'm still not back to eating what I normally do which is a bummer with Easter this weekend. I hope the Easter Bunny still brings me goodies that I can eat later.

My New Tricks

This week I started pulling myself up in my bed; I just get so bored laying there sometimes. I also figured out how I can turn on my mobile by myself. Mommy was very surprised one day when she thought I was napping and heard it turn on. She snuck in and found me playing in my bed with the mobile. I thought it was really funny that I could do it all by myself. Daddy's only comment was "I guess I have to move down the crib mattress again this weekend." - Poor Daddy, my new tricks mean more work for him.

I'm really excited. For Spring Break we're going to Las Vegas. Vegas baby, Vegas! I wonder if I can pass for 21 yet? I hear that we're going to be spending a lot of time by the pool. My babysitter, Amy, is also coming with us so maybe Mommy and Daddy can have some relaxation time too.

9 Month Checkup

Today we went to the doctor for my 9 month checkup. I'm glad I only go there every 3 months because everyone acts really nice and friendly and then right before I leave they give me shots. I've had just about enough of that.

Here are my current stats: Ht. 29 3/8 (78%), Wt. 23.4 (82%), Head Circumference 18 3/4 (94%). I guess I'm not going to be wearing turtlenecks or many hats with this big noggin.

Daddy's Birthday weekend

This weekend we're celebrating Daddy's birthday. His actual birthday is Monday, but Mommy told me he was really busy last year during this time with the remodel project and didn't get to celebrate his big day.

I bought Daddy a cake and some balloons. I still haven't gotten a piece of cake but Daddy let me play with his balloons; they're really neat. Mommy and I bought Daddy a little flat screen TV for the kitchen for his birthday. So far I think I've gotten the most use out of it because I like to watch Dora the Explorer when I eat breakfast.

Enough about Mommy and Daddy and more about what's new in my world. Last week I stood up on my own for the first time! Mommy was watching me play my piano and I decided to use it so I could stand myself up. I've done it a few more times since then but haven't figured out how to pull myself up on anything else.

We got our family pictures in this week so I know Mommy is going to be sending them out to all my fans just as soon as she can.

Just call me scooter!

This weekend I decided I needed to show Mom and Dad some new tricks. I started scooting across the floor! Mommy says it looks like I'm dragging myself across the floor but everyday I get a little bit better at it.

My goal is to catch Cisco, and I've come pretty close. I figured out that he likes to "fetch" his toys so I like to get to them first and then toss them across the room. If only he'd learn to bring them back...then we could have a really fun game.

Our First Family Portrait

Today Daddy and Mommy had the day off of work so I figured it was time that we took a family photo. We got all dressed in navy and went to Sears. I fell asleep on the way to the studio because I was tired from keeping Mommy and Daddy awake all night.I didn't really feel like smiling too much for the photographer but I gave her a few smirks. Overall I think the pictures came out nice, you can download them here if you want; but Mommy had some printed and once they come in she'll mail them out.

Mom's First 3 Weeks

So Mommy is back at work now, I was a little sad at first but most mornings she leaves before I wake up so I don't realize she's gone until she gets home. I have a babysitter, Amy, who comes to my house to play and take care of me until Mommy gets home at 3:00. Amy used to be one of Mommy's Spanish students at WHS until she graduated last year, she spends the day with me and works nights at Eddie Bauer.

Mommy says that even though she misses me when she's away she enjoys being back at work, she really likes teaching those High School kids. I think she also enjoys the quiet time to herself when she's not instructing. She said one of the worst things about going back to work is having to wear real clothes - she had really gotten used to wearing workout gear 24/7.

Next week is Mid Winter break for Mommy's school so we get to hang out a bit more and even Daddy is taking a few days off of work so we can have some family time. I think we might have an official family photo taken.

With Mommy back at work I can't make as many blog posts since she won't let me use her computer when she's not around so I guess my updates won't be as often. I do have a bit of news, I'm getting my next two teeth in! Boy do they hurt! Soon I'll have all 4 front teeth.

My First Haircut

Today mom decided my look was becoming a bit disheveled. She decided it was time for a haircut. We went to a place that specializes in kids haircuts. I got to sit in a Blue Angels jet while a nice lady trimmed my hair. I didn't care for her squirting my head with water or for the clippers but overall I thought it was pretty fun. Mommy kept a bit of my hair to put in my baby book.

All I can say is I went in a baby and came out looking like a big boy.

Marked Man

I am now a "marked man" but I mean this in a good way, today was my baptism at church. I was baptized at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina by Rev. Steve Best (the same guy who married Mommy and Daddy). It was a nice day, all my grandparents and even Uncle Josh and Aunt Loren were present and Papa Boogs and Nanny presented me as my Godparents.

I thought it was a bit odd that Mommy put me in a dress! But later she explained to me that it was a gown, not a dress and it was a special baptism gown that G and Papa Boogs got near the Vatican in Rome, Italy. I didn't spit up on it so all the other kids who get to wear it will be happy it doesn't smell like sour milk.

I was pretty happy through most of the mass because I thought I was going to get to take a bath in the little tub they had set up, but when it came to my turn Rev. Steve poured the water on my head instead and Rev. Jane rubbed a bunch of oil on my forehead. I was very unhappy with the whole thing and demanded afterwards that they take me to look at the stain glass windows. For some reason I find these windows very soothing and funny.

Christmas in January!

So I think I'm a pro at this Christmas stuff now; I've attended 5 different Christmases this season. I must be the luckiest kid in the world to have 5 different Christmases.

This time we attended Christmas at G and Papa Boogs' house with Nanny, Aunt Loren, Uncle Josh and Aunt Charlotte. I got a lot of boring clothes, but that made Mommy happy, and some neat books (I love to read), some cool stuffed animals, which my current favorite is my monkey George and Papa Boogs picked me out an awesome piano like table, it makes fun noies and has some spinning wheels on it that I like.

Mommy and Daddy got some new games for the Wii and some blu ray movies. I like those gifts because that means we get to hang out at home more. They also got some restaurant gift certificates. I guess those are okay too because that means I get to spend more time with G and Papa Boogs.

Mommy and Daddy told me that was the last Christmas but I don't know if I believe them or not. We've enjoyed our visit with Nanny here - she even stayed with me a few nights and read me stories. I'm glad she's just in Oklahoma now so we maybe we can visit her this summer.

Oh I also had a checkup at the doctor on January 7th. So for those of you keeping track here are my latest stats, I am currently weighing in at 20lbs 8 oz which puts me in the 80th percentile and my height is 28 inches so I'm in the 90th percentile. I guess overall I'm a big boy!
