My First Haircut

Today mom decided my look was becoming a bit disheveled. She decided it was time for a haircut. We went to a place that specializes in kids haircuts. I got to sit in a Blue Angels jet while a nice lady trimmed my hair. I didn't care for her squirting my head with water or for the clippers but overall I thought it was pretty fun. Mommy kept a bit of my hair to put in my baby book.

All I can say is I went in a baby and came out looking like a big boy.

Marked Man

I am now a "marked man" but I mean this in a good way, today was my baptism at church. I was baptized at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina by Rev. Steve Best (the same guy who married Mommy and Daddy). It was a nice day, all my grandparents and even Uncle Josh and Aunt Loren were present and Papa Boogs and Nanny presented me as my Godparents.

I thought it was a bit odd that Mommy put me in a dress! But later she explained to me that it was a gown, not a dress and it was a special baptism gown that G and Papa Boogs got near the Vatican in Rome, Italy. I didn't spit up on it so all the other kids who get to wear it will be happy it doesn't smell like sour milk.

I was pretty happy through most of the mass because I thought I was going to get to take a bath in the little tub they had set up, but when it came to my turn Rev. Steve poured the water on my head instead and Rev. Jane rubbed a bunch of oil on my forehead. I was very unhappy with the whole thing and demanded afterwards that they take me to look at the stain glass windows. For some reason I find these windows very soothing and funny.

Christmas in January!

So I think I'm a pro at this Christmas stuff now; I've attended 5 different Christmases this season. I must be the luckiest kid in the world to have 5 different Christmases.

This time we attended Christmas at G and Papa Boogs' house with Nanny, Aunt Loren, Uncle Josh and Aunt Charlotte. I got a lot of boring clothes, but that made Mommy happy, and some neat books (I love to read), some cool stuffed animals, which my current favorite is my monkey George and Papa Boogs picked me out an awesome piano like table, it makes fun noies and has some spinning wheels on it that I like.

Mommy and Daddy got some new games for the Wii and some blu ray movies. I like those gifts because that means we get to hang out at home more. They also got some restaurant gift certificates. I guess those are okay too because that means I get to spend more time with G and Papa Boogs.

Mommy and Daddy told me that was the last Christmas but I don't know if I believe them or not. We've enjoyed our visit with Nanny here - she even stayed with me a few nights and read me stories. I'm glad she's just in Oklahoma now so we maybe we can visit her this summer.

Oh I also had a checkup at the doctor on January 7th. So for those of you keeping track here are my latest stats, I am currently weighing in at 20lbs 8 oz which puts me in the 80th percentile and my height is 28 inches so I'm in the 90th percentile. I guess overall I'm a big boy!

Jewell Christmas (Another First)

All I can say is no wonder people talk about gaining weight over Christmas, I thought it was a one day event but we're already on our 3rd "Christmas" with 2 more left to go!

Today Paw Paw and Kathy came over with Uncle Josh, Aunt Loren and Aunt Charlotte to celebrate Christmas. Mommmy made a nice dinner of Honey-Baked Ham and baked another apple pie (she says her secret is to talk on the phone while preparing the pie.)

We gave Paw Paw an iPod Nano, he seemed excited but had to be reminded how to use it a couple of times, good thing Kathy is up on technology she can help him out. Daddy preloaded it with songs so Paw Paw doesn't even have to learn how to use iTunes yet. I picked out a purple iPod since it is an LSU color, Geaux Tigers!

On to the more important items - what I got! I got a neat wheely bug ride on, it looks like a cow and I really like it's horns. I also got a cute bear in a red wagon that tells the night before Christmas story and some boring clothes. Well, they're overalls so they are cool, as far as boring clothes go. Kathy also gave me an Oregon bib - what is that about?! She knows we are first LSU fans and secondly WSU fans. I guess I can just use it to wipe up spitup. Haha!

Mommy and Daddy got a Blu-Ray player, Daddy was super excited. We watched Mommy's "Horton Hears a Who" movie yesterday. I really liked it. Daddy kept commenting on the picture, but Mommy and I just enjoyed the movie.

So 2 celebrations left to go. Wow this Christmas thing is pretty neat!

Wyatt's First (White) Christmas at Home

Santa Claus must have had Rudolph guiding his sleigh last night; we woke up to more snow! I was so excited to see what Santa brought me that I woke Grammy, Grandpa and Uncle Darren up extra early so they could see what I got (they like to sleep late).

I think that Santa may not be such a bad guy because he brought me lots of toys. I even got my own little laptop so I can be like Mommy and Daddy. I also got a fun wooden stacking toy, some more links to add to my jumper and a neat ball.

I must have been a good boy this year because I had so many presents that I had to do 3 rounds of them! I had to take naps in between gifts; unwrapping is hard work. From Grammy and Grandpa my big gift was a big boy carseat. I also got some nice ornaments, a stocking and some clothes. Uncle Darren gave me some money for my college fund and Mommy and Daddy gave me some more boring clothes. Even Cisco gave me a fun toy, even though he didn't get anything for Christmas this year (I guess I got all of the attention).

I watched everybody eat lots of yummy looking food and they just kept telling me that next year I'd be able to have some too, next year sure seems like a long time to wait for a cookie!

I sure hope everyone else had as good of a Christmas as I had and I hear that I have 3 more Christmases still to go! By the way I also got my first tooth for Christmas!

The Journey Home

Yesterday was a pretty stressful day for Mommy and Daddy; they were worried about the weather in Seattle and about if we were even going to be able to make it out of Dallas. We called Aunt Wendi and Uncle Shane so that if we got stuck in Dallas we could at least spend some time with them and have a place to stay away from the airport. Luckily when we got to Dallas Mommy and Daddy ran for our flight and we made it out.

When we landed in Seattle we were shocked at how much snow there was on the ground. We drove home and found our neighborhood was a winter wonderland. We have 8.5 inches of snow and more is expected tonight. Mommy told me that later we're going to make a snowman. I guess it is nice that my first Christmas is going to be a white one, Mommy told me she didn't have a first Christmas until she was 29 years old.

Wyatt's First Wyatt Family Christmas

Saturday was the big event! I was able to meet all the member of my Louisiana crew who couldn't make it to G and Papa Boogs' wedding. I think they were just as excited to see me as I was to see them. I felt like I had an instant bond with them because they like to eat and drink just as much as I do. (I don't think they were drinking formula)

I was a little disappointed that I slept through the Christmas carol singing since Mommy had me so excited about how we were going to sing Rudolph. I did wake up for the gift opening; that was really fun. I got some really fun books and clothes. A lot of them had a Louisiana theme to them, I guess like Mommy said I need to know my southern roots.

On Sunday we had more food and visited more with the family and then headed back to Baton Rouge to prepare for our trip back home on Monday.

Geaux Tigers!

Yesterday we flew into Mommy's hometown of Baton Rouge. Everyone was worried about the weather when we left Seattle but we got out before the snow storms hit. Thursday we spent the day touring around LSU and eating lots of cajun food. We had dinner with Aunt Peewee and Uncle Bubba and even saw Mike the Tiger.

On Friday Mommy had to prepare her menu items for the Wyatt family Christmas and then we went to visit my Great Grandma Jewell and my Great Aunt Penny. It was the first time I met them and I enjoyed our visit. They gave me a musical card with some Christmas money in it. I wasn't too interested in the money but the card tasted really good.

The Old, Fat and Scary Red Man

Mommy and Daddy said they were taking me to visit the scariest man I've ever heard of, they said his name was Sent-A-Claws, which sounded scary, maybe in anticipation of the claws. He was frighteningly RED and wore a scary hat. I didn't like him. I didn't even realize that I was actually sitting on this scary man's lap, but when I did, boy did I let Mommy and Daddy know I was unhappy. They promptly removed me from his clawless grasp, ushering me to safety.
Later Mommy and Daddy informed me that if I was good, this Santa Claus person would break into our house in the middle of the night and leave me presents. I'm still not sure if this guy is someone I want to visit again.

A Quiet November

So I've been getting some not so subtle hints about updating my blog; I really haven't done much that's blog worthy but here is an update about the new things I can do.

I started solids last month and boy do I love my fruits and vegetables. Mommy said for Thanksgiving she's going to make me a special batch of sweet potatoes. I think my favorite is the squash and apples Mommy makes; she's a pretty good baby food chef. The most exotic things I've had are avocado and a bean sprout that I stole when Mommy and Daddy were eating Pho.

I've also started kissing back, Mommy was a bit upset that the first person I did this to was G. I like to give really wet open mouth kisses.

Also I can babble a bit more, my favorite things to say are "mamababadada" so far I haven't really directed them at anyone or anything in particular but Mommy and Daddy find my babbling amusing.

I haven't started crawling or scooting yet but hope to soon and I don't have any teeth yet I hope they start coming in soon so I can quit complaining about my mouth hurting.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and I promise to do a bit more updating when Mommy lets me use her computer. Also for all my Louisiana fans I wanted to let you know that I finally bought a plane ticket to come visit for the Wyatt family Christmas. Maybe Mommy and Daddy will let me have some gumbo and cracklins!
